Keeping You Safe

You can be assured that anyone from OutsideClinic who comes into your home to take care of your eyes or ears, has been rigorously approved and trained. All our staff have experience working with older people and are given extra training to make sure they’re able to give the best possible health care and advice in a home environment. Each person also has to be approved by the Disclosure and Barring Service and gets checked against the Independent Safeguarding Authority’s Barred Adults list, making sure that they’re safe to work with adults at risk.

Keeping You Safe

Eye Test

Eye Test Eye test at home

Finding hard to get out to an optician? Our at-home eye testing service is for you.

You book an appointment and one of our qualified, experienced opticians will visit you in the comfort of your own home. They will provide you with a comprehensive eye test, as you would expect to get at a high-street optician. Thanks to the latest portable testing equipment our specialists examine your eyes, find out if there are any problems, and even fit you with new glasses if you need them. All of this without you leaving your home.

Costs

If you are over 60 and live in England, Wales, or Scotland then you’re entitled to a free eye test through the NHS at a high-street optician. If you find it difficult to attend a high street optician without help, you may qualify for an optician to visit you in your own home. So we can come to you at no cost.

You can check if you meet the NHS criteria in the UK (click here for NHS Scotland criteria), which includes things like living on a low income or having a disability. If you don’t qualify, it’s still possible to benefit from our home eye test free of charge - if you choose to buy a pair of glasses with us at the time of your test then we don’t charge for the sight test.

Alternatively, if you aren’t able to get a free eye test through the NHS and you don’t choose to buy glasses with us, you’ll just pay our standard home eye test fee of £30.

Aftercare

If you buy glasses from us then you’ll automatically get free aftercare for one year, which includes an in-warranty repair service. You’ll also be able to call our dedicated patient line free on 0800 60 50 40, where our team will be available to help you with any problems between 8am-7pm Monday to Thursday, 8am-5:30pm Friday, and 9am-1pm on Saturdays.

If you would like extra peace of mind and protection for your glasses, then you can take advantage of our CarePlus membership. For only £20 you’ll be covered for a full 12 months for the cost of any repairs you need, or if your glasses get accidentally damaged or broken.

Hearing Test

Hearing Test Hearing test at home

We have a team of qualified and experienced hearing specialists working all of the country who can check your ears in your own home. They can help you get the right hearing aids. Having the hearing test at home means they can make sure you are hearing the things that matter most to you.

Costs

If you live in England or Wales, we offer a free hearing test in your own home - so we can come and examine your ears at no cost. Depending on where you live, you may be able to have an NHS-funded test and free NHS hearing aids, should you need them. You can check if we cover your area by clicking below.

If your post code doesn’t fall into one of our NHS areas, don’t worry - we can still check your hearing at home for free. If our hearing specialist finds that hearing aids will help, they can explain your options and show you a range of modern, discreet, digital hearing aids. You may be surprised to see how much they’ve changed over the years! The price of these hearing aids starts from as little as £495 and includes free delivery, fitting in the comfort of your own home, and year-round aftercare.

Aftercare

If you choose to buy hearing aids through us then you’ll also get full aftercare all year round, at no extra cost. Once your hearing aids have been fitted we’ll schedule a follow-up call for approximately 2-4 weeks after the fitting date, so we can see how you’re getting on and address any questions you might have. Plus if you need a specific aftercare appointment for extra support, we can arrange that.

Our Credentials

We know it’s important that the people taking care of your eyes and ears are not only qualified, but also registered with the key professional bodies that make sure their training is current and that they’re working to the highest possible standards.

So all of our Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians are registered with the General Optical Council. As a company, we’re a full member of the Federation of Ophthalmic and Dispensing Opticians. All of our Audiologists and Hearing Aid Dispensers are registered with the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists and the Health and Care Professions Council. Plus, as a company we’re a registered contractor with every NHS England Area Team in England, Scotland, and Wales, and each of our Optometrists is registered on the performers list with their local NHS England Area Team.

All the work we do complies with the Code of Practice developed and governed by the Domiciliary Eyecare Committee and the Optical Confederation. We’ve also carefully developed a set of our own patient standards, which set out the quality of care we promise to deliver across our sight and hearing services.
