Merse House is part of Community Integrated Care, one of Britain’s biggest and most successful social care charities and has supported older people for over 3 decades. It is proud to deliver specialist residential and nursing care that supports people living with age-related needs and dementia to lead full and happy lives, through our EachStep Care model.

Merse House, a 32 bed care home based in Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland, providing specialist residential care to older people and people living with dementia. Overlooking the River Dee it is close to many areas of outstanding beauty.

Home Comforts

Merse House is a warm, welcoming and friendly home that has some very special features as well as wonderful spaces to relax in and enjoy company, including lounge and dining areas as well as an activities room. We also have a hairdressing salon which residents love. As a specialist dementia service, our furnishings and lighting are purpose designed to meet the needs of people we support.

We have a beautiful accessible garden, where residents can relaxation with family and friends and enjoy outdoor activities.

All our residents have their own comfortable and spacious en-suite bedroom, which can be personalised to their tastes.

Living Fulfilled Lives

At Merse House, we run an extensive activity programme and support people to enjoy days out in the community too. By getting to know our resident we are able to offer activities that meet their different passions and interests.

Our residents enjoys fun one-to-one and group activities, such as arts and crafts, reminiscence sessions, quiz and games nights and sing-alongs.

We also hold regular social events for residents, family and friends, including performances from local entertainers as well as welcoming local clergy, volunteers and schools regularly visit our home.

We welcome the contribution of family members, who provide us with feedback and ideas and are a central part of life in our home.

Mealtimes represent an important social occasion for our residents and we work to ensure they are as enjoyable as possible, unhurried and relaxed with residents being given plenty of time to eat and enjoy their meal.

Our chefs prepare nutritious and delicious meals, which are freshly made in the home. We also support people who have specialist diets.

Person Centred Care

We are committed to providing personalised support that ensures our residents lead active, happy and fulfilled lives:

All staff receive specialist training and mentoring. We really get to know our residents and spend time understanding their life story and the things that are important to them, so we focus on the things that really matter to them.

Every resident has a named key worker who helps develop their own personalised care.

We hold a regular forum with residents, enabling them to voice their views on the day-to-day running of our home.
